I'm Charlie and I'm a Service Designer. I live in Glasgow but work (remotely) all over the UK. I help to design public services for various public sector organisations.

When I'm not working I take an active role in community planning and development in my local authority. I am a community councillor and mentor to care experienced young people around Glasgow and Ayrshire.

I also teach and lecture design studies at universities and colleges across Scotland.

I am a keen to network and expand my horizons in the world so I am keen to have conversations with anyone! Let me know if this is of interest to you!

Things that I do

I take an active role in many things, in and outwith design.

Mentoring & Coaching

Mentoring and coaching are both methods of guiding and developing individuals to achieve their goals. Mentoring involves a more experienced person sharing their knowledge, skills, and experience with a less experienced person to help them grow and develop in their field. Coaching, on the other hand, involves a coach providing guidance, feedback, and support to help an individual develop their skills and achieve their goals. Coaching tends to be more task-oriented and focuses on specific areas for improvement, while mentoring is more relationship-oriented and focused on overall growth and development.

Service & Org Design

Service design is the process of creating and improving services to meet the needs of users. It involves understanding user needs and designing the service to meet those needs in an effective and efficient way. Service design takes a holistic approach, considering all aspects of the service, including the people, processes, and technology involved. The goal is to create a seamless and positive experience for users that meets their needs and exceeds their expectations.

Education & Facilitation

Teaching people the principles and techniques of design, with the goal of developing their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. I cover a wide range of disciplines, including service design, product design, learning design, and more. Design education typically involves a combination of theoretical and practical instruction, including design theory and techniques, as well as hands-on projects and critiques. The aim is to equip people with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a creative team.
